One of America’s best known comedians and filmmakers, Woody Allen began life as Allen Stewart Konigsberg in Brooklyn. By the age of 16 Allen was writing gags for newspaper columnists. After a successful career in stand-up comedy, Allen produced his first film, What’s Up Tiger-Lily ? in 1966. Since then he has written, directed, or acted in more than 30 movies. His film Annie Hall (1977), which won an Oscar, has a brief scene in which Marshall McLuhan makes a cameo appearance
